1) Exfoliate your lips with the right materials

The lips are a very delicate part of our body, but we often pay little attention to them in our skincare routine.  Exfoliating the lips gently with a soft toothbrush or hand towel and a homemade lip scrub at most twice a week helps to remove dead cells and keeps the lips pink permanently in the long run.

4 Effective Homemade Lip Scrubs for Exfoliation

What to do:
i) Mix one tablespoon of brown sugar and a teaspoon of honey with olive oil or coconut oil and gently apply in circular motions on the lips with the toothbrush.
ii) Do this for at least 15 minutes then rinse with warm water.
iii) Apply a lip balm.

 b) Lemon and sugar scrub

What to do:
i) Mix one tablespoon of lemon and half teaspoon of granulated sugar together.
ii) Use your finger to gently dab and apply the mixture on the lips in circular motions for at least 20 minutes or until the sugar dissolves.
iii) Rinse the lips with warm water and apply lip balm.

c) Beetroot scrub

What to do:
i) Get a small sized beetroot, wash and peel it, then grate with a clean grater.
ii) Squeeze out the juice from the grated beetroot and apply on the lips.
iii) Leave for at least 15 minutes before rinsing.
iv) Do this two times a week for desired results.
Beetroot gives a pink color to the lips instantly.

d) Aloe Vera and honey scrub

What to do:
i) Get an Aloe Vera leaf, wash and open it up with a knife. Then, bring out the Aloe Vera gel.
ii) Mix one tablespoon of Aloe Vera gel with one teaspoon of honey.
iii) Apply gently on the lips and allow for 20 minutes then rinse with warm water.
iv) Both Aloe Vera and honey helps to keep the lips moist and hydrated.
v) Do this at least 3 times a week.


2) Use lipstick and balm made with natural ingredients

Avoid Chemical laden lipstick and balm. Choose lipstick and balm that are made with natural ingredients, and avoid long stay. Ensure you use a lip balm that contains SPF ingredients or essential oils, this helps to protect you from the harsh UV rays of the sun. Always make it a point of duty to wipe off your lipstick and moisturize your lips before you go to bed.
